This guide shows how to recover saved Chrome passwords across platforms (Windows, macOS, Android, iOS) and from Google Password Manager. Steps assume reasonable defaults (signed-in Chrome where relevant). For deleted passwords, recovery depends on backups or synced account history.
Quick checklist (choose your situation)
- If Chrome sync is on and you remember your Google account credentials → use Google Password Manager (recommended).
- If passwords were saved only on the device (no sync) → view locally in Chrome or system password store.
- If passwords were deleted → check backups, system restore, or Google Account activity exports.
- If you need a portable/exportable copy → export from Chrome/Google Password Manager (CSV) and secure it immediately.
1) Recover via Google Password Manager (sync on)
- On any device, open passwords.google.com and sign in with the Google account used for Chrome sync.
- Authenticate (2FA, device prompt, or re-enter password).
- Browse saved entries or search by site. Click an entry and select the eye icon to reveal the password (you’ll re-authenticate).
- To export: Settings → Export passwords → confirm and save the CSV to a secure location. Delete the CSV after use.
